EAA is offering four options for the 2009 Lacrosse season.  Teams will be configured by player grade level at time of registration.  The program is offered to both boys and girls. There are currently no all-girls’ lacrosse teams offered by EAA, however if you are interested in an all-girls team Valley Athletic Association does offer one.  All programs have limited capacity due to field availability and therefore it is recommended that you signup early. Programs may have to close early if full and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Online registration for all EAA lacrosse programs will start in January. Registration for all spring Lacrosse programs (except 9/10 grade lacrosse) will close on Saturday, February 14th. After this date, registration will be allowed only if space is available and a late fee of $10 will be applied.

The following 2009 Lacrosse options are available:

Spring Indoor Lacrosse         3rd – 6th grades                       Sport fee: $100

Indoor Spring Lacrosse will be offered in two divisions, 3rd – 4th and 5–6th grades.  This will be a combined South of the River league, known as Dakota Lacrosse, with participants from Eagan, Apple Valley, Rosemount and Burnsville.  To the extent possible, players will be organized by school and geography.  There will be one practice and one game per week.  Practices will begin in March and the season will end in late May.  Practices will be on weeknights and games will be on weekends.  All activities will be at Eagan and Hayes arenas on artificial turf.  Equipment needed is helmet with face guard, lacrosse stick, protective cup, shoulder pads, gloves, tennis shoes, and mouth guard.   New and used equipment is available at various metro locations and swap meets.  Goalie equipment is provided by EAA.

Spring Field Lacrosse            7th - 8th grade              Sport fee: $95

7-8th Grade Lacrosse will play in the Minnesota Boys Scholastic Lacrosse Association (MBSLA) Middle School league on approximately 4 weekends from late April through early June.  Field Lacrosse is played on outdoor fields at various locations throughout the metro area.  Games are held on Saturdays in a round-robin format and the teams will typically play two games on each game date.  Practices will be outside at Rahn Field across from Target in Eagan. Practice time and frequency to be determined by coaches and families.

There may be additional costs for paid coaches, indoor practice time and additional tournaments for this program.  Equipment needed is lacrosse helmet with face guard, lacrosse stick, shoulder pads, gloves, elbow pads, mouth guard, protective cup, and outdoor cleat shoes.

Spring Field Lacrosse            9th-10th grade              Sport fee: $95

Please note : registrations for the 9/10 grade program  will not close until April 14th.

If you choose to try out for the JV or Varsity program you may wait to sign up for the freshman /sophomore team until after tryout results are announced.

9-10th Grade Lacrosse will play in Minnesota Boys Scholastic Lacrosse Association (MBSLA) Frosh league on approximately 4 weekends from late April through early June.  Travel to all parts of the metro area is likely for games.  Games are held on Saturdays in a round-robin format and the team will typically play two games on each game date.  Practices will be daily after school at Rahn Field.  There is no change in this program from past years.  Note:  Although Boys HS Lacrosse has been sanctioned by the Minnesota HS League and District 196 has funded a varsity and JV team at each of the four District High Schools, there is no District support in 2009 for the Frosh program.  To the extent allowed, the Frosh program will be coordinated with the HS varsity and JV programs.

There will also be additional costs for paid coaches, indoor practice time, and additional tournaments for this program.  This is partially funded and coordinated by the High School Lacrosse Booster Club which is run by the parents of the lacrosse players. The fee for the booster club last year was approx $230.00 (subject to change).  More information can be found on the Eagan High school website under athletics- Lacrosse.

Summer Field Lacrosse         3rd – 8th grades                       Sport fee: $115

All summer lacrosse registration will close by March 15th

Summer Field Lacrosse will be offered to 3rd – 4th, 5-6th, and 7-8th grade divisions.  These teams will participate in the Youth Lacrosse Minnesota summer league.  Practices and games will be held on weekday evenings.  An end of the season tournament will be held in late July.  Teams may participate in additional tournaments at the discretion of coaches and parents.  Registration fees for the added tournaments would be the responsibility of the participating team.  If your child is not currently a member of US Lacrosse, registration will be required at an additional fee of approximately $25. Practices will start in early June and end with the scheduled end of season tournament in late July.

VOLUNTEER

EAA Lacrosse relies exclusively on volunteers to run the program.  There are many opportunities available for the 2009 spring and summer season.  Please consider volunteering to coach or co-coach a team, act as an age group coordinator or finally as a referee coordinator.  If you are interested in volunteering, please indicate your desired position on your child’s registration.  We will also need new directors next year as our boys will soon be out of the grade school program.  All positions come with training.
