Welcome to 2012 In-House Baseball

Registration for the 2012 baseball season is now OPEN.

There are seven age divisions that range from Kindergarten to 11th grade.  Note: All groups are based on the actually school grade that your child is currently attending.  The number one goal for the program is for the kids to have FUN!  For the younger ages, coaches pitch to their own team for Mites (K-1st) and Squirts II (2nd).  With a successful pilot of the Squirts III (3rd) coach pitch/kid pitch (pitch to their own team) last season, we will continue this approach this season.  Note: Not all of the boys will be ready, but we give them the opportunity.  This gives the boys that are ready the opportunity to gain the confidence of being on the mound and pitching to batters in the batters box.  Note: Other cities start in 2nd grade with this approach, which Eagan baseball needs to adopt.  From 4th grade to 11th grade, the boys pitch just like the high school teams.  For the kids in the 4th/5th and 6th/7th grade levels we have a season ending tournament and all teams will be included this year.  Teams in the 8th - 11th grade levels play other EAA teams and teams from other local organizations (Apple Valley, Eastview, and Lakeville).  EAA provides shirts, hats, team bat, and catcher gear.  Note: 2012 EAA In-house baseball rules are currently being updated and should be completed by January 23, 2012, which will be labeled "2012 Rules".

NOTES:

  • Practices will begin in early May and games will start mid to late May, except for the 8th/9th (Ponies) and 10th/11th (Mustangs) levels, whose games will start after Memorial Day 2012 this year.  Normally there will be 2 games, 2 practices, or a practice/game combination scheduled per week.  Friday evenings and weekends will be used only if necessary (i.e. make-ups) and for the season ending tournaments (4th grade to 11th grade only).
  • Year-end Tournament for 4th/5th (Minors) and 6th/7th (Majors) will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012 to Monday, July 16, 2012.  Note: Sunday being a day off unless make-up games are needed.
  • Year-end Tournament for 8th/9th (Ponies) and 10th/11th (Mustangs) will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 to Sunday, July 29, 2012.
  • Season ends for Mites (K-1st), Squirts II (2nd) and Squirts (3rd), Thursday,  July 12, 2012.

Team Selection Criteria

Mites – Minors

An age division coordinator will form the team. The teams will be formed as follows:

  1. Head Coach and their mutual assistant coach requests, up to three for Mites through squirts and two for minors.
  2. Players who request each other, only one other name is allowed. Requests must be mutual.
  3. Elementary school, but not guaranteed.
  4. The team formation for the Minors (4th/5th) consists of half 4th Graders and half 5th Graders.
  5. Majors, Ponies and Mustangs teams are formed by a coach’s draft, so no player requests can be accepted.

NOTE: Late sign-ups will be placed on teams with availability only. No special requests will be honored.

Majors, Ponies and Mustang Player Draft

Purpose of the draft system is to achieve as much team parity as possible. This will provide each team with adequate pitchers and catchers as well as a reasonable disbursement of players of all skill level into each team.

Player to player requests will not be honored at these age levels.

Coaches and Volunteers

Please consider volunteering your time to the In House Baseball program. We are in need of age coordinators, playoff tournament help and other support activities.

Coaches are needed at all levels. No experience is necessary.
