Fall Season Soccer Format
The season typically runs from mid-August to mid-October. Before Labor Day, each team plays two nights a week (usually Monday through Thursday). After Labor Day, each team plays once during the week and once on Saturdays.
The season will consist of 8 weeks of soccer. The first two weeks will consist of 4 practices. The remaining weeks will alternate practice-game each week. The total number of practices will be 8 to 9 with approximately 6 games depending on the age group. We are encouraging small sided scrimmages within each team at the end of practice to give the players an opportunity to incorporate their new skills into game situations. By keeping the games small, the players will get more touches and ball exposure. Pinnies will now be provided to each team to assist with inter-squad scrimmages. The 5th & 6th grade teams will end the season with a soccer tournament.
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
Each grade makes up a league:
All refereeing is done by the parent coaches. The emphasis is on small sided games, each team divides in half so all participate the entire hour, basic skill development, good sportsmanship, and FUN. No scores or standings are kept. All games are played on Eagan fields, determined by the City of Eagan roughly two months prior to the start of the season. A Bowling event is held for this age group during the Fall season.
3rd - 6th Grade
The teams are typically divided up by grade/gender with fifth and sixth grades playing together. The fifth/sixth grade teams participate in an end of season tournament. It is held on the weekend following the last Saturday games, around mid-October.
The number of players on the field is set by the Director prior to the start of the season. This number will vary from six to eleven. The driving factor for determining the number of players on the field is the number of children registered. Fifth and Sixth grades have a tournament, which is held at the end of the season. Certified center referees are provided for all games. The emphasis is on basic skill development, game situations, good sportsmanship, and FUN. Scores are kept for 3rd through 6th grade. Standings are kept for the 5th - 6th grade.
