SUMMER MILES

Summer Season

Summer miles is a 6-week program we host in the summer to ensure our runners are building their running endurance in preparation for the fall-season.   Endurance runs are the foundation of the running pyramid.  During fall season we continue to work on endurance but also incorporate other running techniques such as speed and strength; but in summer it's all about endurance.

I look forward to logging the miles with your runners this summer!

Warm Weather & Air Quality Guidelines

EAA Cross Country Weather Guidelines

If the Heat Index is...

  • Up to 90 degrees - Normal Run with water breaks as needed

  • 91-99 degrees - Mandatory 2-minute water breaks per lap.  Practice reduced to 30 min total.

  • Over 100 degrees - Suspend practice.

If the Air Quality Index is...

  • Good/Moderate - no impacts to practice
  • Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups - practice reduced to 30 minutes
  • Unhealthy/Very Unhealthy/Hazardous - no practice

As always you should make the best decision for your young runners.  These are guidelines that we will use to make decisions for the safety of the kids.
